The seasonal instructor
The three tasks of a ski instructor: to inspire – to teach – to train
Ski instructors must adapt to a wide variety of clients and teaching practices. They need to organise their lessons based on group numbers, ski level and above all client expectations. Instructors are good teachers, they can explain, correct, develop individualised progress and adapt their teaching methods.
9 out of 10 instructors are self-employed. The few that are employees work in holiday resorts, leisure centers etc... This is of course a seasonal job and the majority of instructors have a second profession.
Qualified Alpin Ski BEES 1st degree instructors (to give the diploma it's full title) can work both on and off piste, with the exception unmarked glaciers and difficult terrian requiring mountaineering techniques. Training takes place under the responsability of ENSA.
